She shows them how through her own dodgy acts of corruption. She allows ghost writers at the STAR. She allows them to be corrupt. She benefits a GREAT deal from their 'cash for comment' corruption. She teaches them how. She shows them the ropes. She is the proud grand Tita of EX DEALS. She gives them her special permission to be corrupt. johntikoypelayo wrote on Sep 14, '07 i think we should end this all.anyway everythings been said and done.i think she wont be doing it again.i work abroad i know how it feels but in time the wounds will heal.so advice to the publishers be more considerate to the hardworking pinoys out there who in turn are helping the nation get back on its feet to become great again(kaso palpak pa rin ang mga politiko natin ) and also to the magazine you should also have admitted your mistake earlier kasi in part kasali kayo sa nangyari you should have been more responsible. |
reifmon wrote on Sep 4, '07 You can take it to the bank, my friends and I will never read, much less buy this irresponsible magazine ever again. |
ainna81 wrote on Aug 31, '07 MALU FERNANDEZ IS LIKE AN ELEPHANT BEAST AND DOESN'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO GARGLE BECAUSE HER BREATH STINKS AND SHE SMELLS LIKE A PIG OR WORST THAN A PIG.... YOU SON OF A BITCH |
tarrobago wrote on Aug 29, '07 you, cursor7, on the other, apparently read the magazine. do you consider yourself part of the "audience" Malu Fernandez writes specifically for? |
vitaminsee wrote on Aug 27, '07 why do people asia even have to wait for the publication of the august or september... whatever month... to publish their say on the issue? does this mean people will have to BUY a copy of that issue? hell, just write a press release, send it to newspapers and get it over with. so nobody will harbor a suspicion of capitalizing on the issue. regarding people asia's approval of the article... i know for a fact that before an article gets approved it goes through the editorial assistants, the managing and associate editor and the editor in chief, then its layouted and drafted and the process is repeated. that means a number of people have already seen it. sama mo na artists. and they didn't say ANYTHING? good grief. |
cursor7 wrote on Aug 25, '07 and by the way, i don't think people asia is making you wait til September for whatever they have to say about the issue, it's so obvious you guys don't read the magazine, they already addressed this on their August issue, they even printed the angered feedbacks from their readers. |
cursor7 wrote on Aug 25, '07 LET'S PUT IT TO REST!, the person backed down already and apologized for the people she angered...there are more important things to focus on about this country that this tactless columnist, god, if these people could use the same overly assertive pursuit towards certain governement issues and socio economic developments then maybe we wouldn't have a Malu Fernandez's and Ofw's in the first place... you guys who still comment with under the belt remarks, you're doing the same thing you crucify her for! everyone is a Malu Fernandez inside, admit it or not. and for those who want to boycott People Asia and Manila Standard, how are you going to boycott these publications when you don't even buy them in the first place, if not for the forwarded mails of a scanned tearsheet you guys wouldn't even know about it. |
vitaminless wrote on Aug 24, '07 "Real Lives. Real Stories. Real People." Get real, People Asia Magazine.I, for one, will be getting an alternative magazine starting today. |
thelemming wrote on Aug 23, '07, edited on Aug 23, '07 People Asia; PEEEPS! what the F__K were you thinking when you printed that article?!! well done! damage DONE. |
fau20146 wrote on Aug 23, '07 Come on people.Malu Fernandez doesn't deserve to be called a pig.A pig is much more dignified than her.Ha ha! Even though she owed an apology, she would not be forgotten or even forgiven by Filipinos in some other ways. You made history Malu Fernandez! Now,you're on your own private hell.: ) |
sidneyandrenette wrote on Aug 23, '07 I thought bigotry and intolerance was a thing of the past. Apparently not. I don't think we who were insulted by Malu Fernandez's offensive article should be made to wait for your September issue to read her statement. Is People Asia trying to capitalize on this controversy to drive up sales by making us buy their September issue? Even more importantly, we are waiting for a statement from Malu Fernandez's EDITORS who allowed this article to run. Was this intentional on your part - courting the bad publicity since it would raise awareness of the magazine? Or did you overlook her "acerbic wit," thinking it was written in good fun and the readers would not be offended? Witticisms, exaggerations and humorous comments stop being funny when the readers are genuinely hurt and offended. My bestfriend is an accountant in Dubai, and she wouldn't be there if there were good-paying jobs in the Philippines. I wish Malu Fernandez would realize that OFWs work abroad because not everybody is as wealthy as she is. For most, working abroad is the only chance they have to support their family. And, as previously raised, if she were so rich as she wants everyone to believe she is, then why did she fly economy? I support the call to fire Malu Fernandez, and for both her and People Asia to issue a sincere statement of apology. Apologize to the OFWs whom you have mocked, and apologize to the intelligence and sensibility of the Filipino people for thinking that an offensive article like that would go unnoticed. May I just retierate to Malu Fernandez, since she seems very defensive in stressing that it was supposed to be funny - if 10 people thought it's funny but 10,000 didn't, then maybe it really wasn't. Deal with it! If you are so smart and funny, then you should have been able to write something funny without having had to put down people. |
tarrobago wrote on Aug 23, '07 the people at Manila Standard Today gave an official reply. Why doesn't People Asia do the same? http://www.manilastandardtoday.com/?page=connieVeneracion_aug23_2007 |
beautifulflowers wrote on Aug 22, '07 The excellent piece above was taken from: http://www.fubargenre.com/2007/08/18/malu-fernandez-whats-economy-class/ It is really appalling that Malu Fernandez's irresponsible and insulting rantings have been printed by this magazine. Where are the magazine editors who are supposed to uphold journalistic and ethical standards? The magazine and its editors have sorely failed their duty to ensure intelligent and newsworthy magazine content for the public. What is more disturbing is the lack of remorse shown by the magazine, its editors and particularly Malu Fernandez herself. This refusal to issue an apology for a clearly objectionable article reeks of bigotry and loathsome apathy. It is unacceptable, and as a magazine veered toward a good life and good taste, it is high time to end this tawdry business. Do the right thing and apologize. |
